Epri's Testimony

Hi, my name is Epri Julianti Nainggolan. I come from Simalungun, North Sumatera, a far away island. I study at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) majoring English Diploma Program, Purwokerto, Central Java. I can’t imagine studying in Java after I finishing my vocational high school. I directly looked for a job so that I won’t make burden to my parents anymore. My parents are farmers in a village, Silabah Jaya. I am the first from five children. I think it wouldn’t be possible to study in university while my family still has financial problems.

I had a dream for studying at college since I was in vocational high school. Well, it comes true when I tried to join the national examination in Medan. It’s a miracle when I was accepted in Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. First, it became a problem because my parents were in doubt sending me to university but my aunt persuaded them because having a study in Unsoed isn’t expensive.

It’s amazing when I have been arrived here. It feels like a dream that I continue my study even out of Sumatera. There were many things shocked me when I have been here.  The meals are very cheap and other student needs as well. My parents are not too difficult to pay my tuition because it is not as high as other universities cost. Unsoed also provides dispensation of tuition for students who aren’t able to pay as it should be. There are also many scholarships provided. In third semester I got “Indonesia Cerdas” scholarship from BRI. It’s very helpful on my needs.

I love being study here. The lecturers are very smart and kind. Some of them were graduated from abroad. We mostly use English while studying. It trained us to able in English both oral and written. We were formed well since the first time to know the basic because we come from different ability in English. Unsoed supports me many things especially my major English Diploma Program to become an qualified person for my future. Unbelieveable!!!!
